District Management of Student Chromebooks: Student chromebooks are managed by the school district. Through a managed license we restrict student ability to search the internet using Google SafeSearch. PLT3 also use a service known as GoGuardian. GoGuardian Admin allows the district to block innappropriate websites to remain compliant with the Children's Internet Protection Act (CIPA Compliance). GoGuardian Teacher is also used and allows classroom teachers to monitor and manage student activity on their district provided chromebooks.
Parental Extensions for use on Student Chromebooks: If you still have concerns about student chromebook usage, you may consider using a parental blocking application/extension such as BlockSite and/or StayFocused. From your student's chromebook, simply install the application you want to add (BlockSite or StayFocused) and you can block or limit your studunt's chromebook activities. In addition, to help parents plan for appropriate technology use, we recommend checking out Common Sense Media: The nation's leading nonprofit organization dedicated to improving the lives of all kids and families by providing the trustworthy information, education, and independent voice they need to thrive in the 21st century. Every day, millions of parents and educators trust Common Sense reviews and advice to help them navigate the digital world with their kids. Together with policymakers, industry leaders, and global media partners, we're building a digital world that works better for all kids, their families, and their communities.
