    Mrs. Janet Barnhart brings twenty-five years of experience in education to her role as Principal of the PLT 6-12 Campus.  After graduating from the University of Illinois with a degree in Secondary Education/Teaching of English, she served Sterling High School as teacher, Literacy Coach, Dean of Instruction, and Associate Principal. During this time, Mrs. Barnhart earned an M.A. in Educational Psychology/Curriculum, Technology, and Educational Reform and an M.A. in Educational Leadership.  Her areas of interest in education include student support systems, effective and efficient practices, and curriculum design.   Janet and her husband Chris are the proud parents of three daughters: Mackenzie, Megan, and Madilyn. 

     

  • About The Dean of Students/Athletic Director

     Derick Cox

     

     

     

     

     

    Mr. Derick Cox is your Dean of Students and Athletic Director at the 6-12 Campus. Mr Cox is a 1998 graduate from Prophetstown High School and received a Bachelors in Technology Education from Illinois State University (2004). Mr. Cox has 15 years of experience as an industrial technology teacher before venturing into administration. In addition to teaching, Mr. Cox spent 23 years as a high school assistant and head coach within the EP and Rock Falls wrestling and football programs. He also has two other advanced degrees including a Masters in Technology and Innovation from Ashford University (2009) and a Masters in Educational Leadership from American College of Education (2019). Mr. Cox returns to Prophetstown with his two children (Dena and Cullen) who are students of the district.
